Red Carpet Buzz
IFP bring the most recent red carpet news of the celebrities in India. Here is your weekly buzz…..
Deepika Padukone voted as one of the ‘Most Beautiful Woman’ by People magazine was dressed in Alexander McQueen jumpsuit to unveil the issue of the mag. The colour with pulled back hair works for this look but the flats somehow are not doing justice to this outfit. A bit of heel could have made the fall at the hemlines look better.
Spotted Sridevi along with husband Boney Kapoor and Salman Khan at a Marathi Channel Launch event. Sridevi wore an orange Sabyasachi saree paired with golden blouse……………honestly I am finding the colours of Sabyasachi’s Spring 2013 very alluring. Plus it was nice to see Salman & Boney in suits.
Sridevi at a party hosted in honour for winning the ‘Padma Shri’ by Sahara Chief Subroto Roy. The beautiful lady wore a white ‘Manish Malhotra’ Anarkali for the evening complete with a heavy neck-piece. I am just missing some colour on Sridevi here since white looked too safe a choice for this big event. But she did look nice in this outfit.
Diana Penty launched the new range of ‘Tresemme’ products opted for a maroon ‘Amit Aggarwal’ gown. The colour was gorgeous on her but what caught my eye was the detailing on the waist that looked made the look classy. Love the straight-n-sleek hair on this outfit but I do wish Diana would have worn dark lips as well.
Deepika Padukone gets it right every single time & how?? I am simply amazed at how flawless she looks in this beautiful Naeem Khan gown that she wore for the Grazia Fashion Awards. The classic hair & make-up completed Deepika’s look…………can I dare to complain about this fabulous look??
Priyanka Chopra was sizzling in a red hot outfit by ‘Ramona Narang’ that she paired with Louboutin shoes & a classy ‘Lanvin’ belt for the first look of ‘Badmaash Babli’ song to be featured in ‘Shootout at Wadala’. It is a delight that Priyanak opted for some fierce look this time around, like this look on her.
Kajol looked splendid in ‘Amit Aggarwal’ outfit at FICCI 2013……….. she paired the outfit with nude heels & pair of golden earrings. This look was completed with a side swept pony. She looked elegant in this outfit…………….infact I am finding this look on Kajol very cute.
Kareena Kapoor at the Inauguration ceremony of 14th FICCI held in Mumbai. Kareena was dressed in a net saree in citrus hues by designer ‘Manish Malhotra’. The colour was beautiful for a day-wear event especially when summertime is in full swing in aamchi Mumbai. Though I just wish that the inner skirt of the saree would have been in yellow colour as well. But hey that is just me speaking my mind….
Vidya Balan & Malaika Arora Khan posed for the cameras at the GR8 Women Achiever Awards. Vidya wore her signature style in ‘Sabyasachi’ while Malaika opted for a maroon ‘Surily Goel’ gown that had detailing on the shoulders. For once I think Malaika looked much more classic in this gown, as I have seen Vidya in this look earlier as well. Love Malaika’s hairdo……
What do you get when you wanna a piece of everything beautiful………….a style disaster like Jacqueline. Yes the outfit is by ‘Sabyasachi’ and the jewels by ‘Amrapali’ but embroidery & detailing everywhere is not a fashion statement. Wish this lehenga was combined with a plain black blouse. The heavily embellished blouse is a spoiler in this look.
Asin in a Shehlaa Khan outfit in lime green also attened the GR8 Women Achiever Award. But I am absolutely disappointed with the way the dupatta was draped. It gives an illusion of too many layers to this outfit. Sigh! Sucha beautiful anarkali but styling was such a bore.
Nargis Fakhri dressed in ‘Jade’ by designers Monica & Karishma looked pretty at the GR8 Women Achiever Awards. The black lace anarkali had ‘pop of colour’ in form of the pink-n-golden border detail on the dupatta & hemline. Love this look which she completed with earrings & black strappy sandals.
Sonam Kapoor back on the stage in one of her fashionable looks……….seen here at the L’oreal Femina Women’s Award 2013 -Nomination event. Sonam wore Masaba Gupta for Satya Paul with golden earrings looking amazing in this look. What struck me the most was the collar detail on the halter blouse which was absolutely unique and never seen before. Designer Masaba will be showcasing her latest works for Satya Paul this upcoming Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week…………looking at this I can hardly wait.
Chitrangada Singh attended the Dior Autumn/Winter 2013 Ready-to-Wear………….she was dressed head to toe in Dior of course. As the Dior PR mentioned : Chitrangada Singh wore a pale pinkcrepe dress, shoes, a Miss Dior bag and Dior Fine Jewellery ‘Champêtre’ earrings and a ‘Voluptueuse’ ring.
Love Chitrangada’s look for this event where she kept the look minimal but uber stylish with the shoes & the bag. The pale pink sheath dress is perfect canvas for adding style with accessories. Like it absolutely……….
Madhuri Dixit Nene wore a Zara outfit in white at the launch of her online dance academy. She paired the dress with snake leather strappy sandals and I must say Madhuri did look good in this understated look. She is known for her intelligence and I am happy she is learning the fashion tricks pretty soon. Hope she keeps her look understated as this one in future too.
Even though this is not a red carpet event, I had to feature this look of Deepika Padukone in ‘Anamika Khanna’ saree which she wore for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s birthday bash. Love, Love……………LOVE this look of hers. The hair updo, the lovely saree with stylish high neck blouse and minimal jewellery are noteworthy.
Huma Qureshi Huma Qureshi unveiled Forevermark Encordia collection in Mumbai. Seen in a black gown with sparkling diamonds, Huma did look stylish & beautiful. Wish she would be seen in such good looks more often. Like it..
Sushant Singh Rajput attended the premiere of his movie ‘Kai Po Che’ with girlfriend Ankita. The couple dressed in black looked good on the red carpet but one thought lingered in my mind……..did they both use the same foundation??? Like Ankita’s gown but the hair & the make-up are no match for this outfit. Sushant on the other hand looked quite dapper.

Amrita Puri who was also a part of movie ‘Kai Po Che’ came in solo dressed in a grey dress with colorful sequin detail. IFP liked her look for the evening which was young and cute but the sight of her red clutch was too much to bear. Wish she had come without such a distracting piece.
Huma Qureshi in a black & white outfit by designer ‘Pankaj & Nidhi’……….love the top though just not convinced about it’s fit on the waistline as it appears to be too tight. Waist above I think her she looked good but waist below the look could have worked out better.

Neha Dhupia in ‘Payal Khandwala’ design at the premiere of ‘Kai Po Che’ made me cringe a bit. The one shoulder top, hair & make-up all were good but the skirt was an entirely different story. I do agree it is a designer wear but draping should always appear elegant rather than done up in a jiffy. Not liking the skirt a bit.
Chitrangada Singh in a one shoulder jumpsuit by ASOS looked pretty but lack of colour did not make this one interesting. Maybe some studd earrins, a cuff and shimmer pumps might have worked with this outfit. But I am happy that Chitrangada has her style moves on these days.
Vidya Balan also attended the premiere of ‘Kai Po Che’ with her husband. Both dressed in Indian attire with Siddharth in kurta complimenting Vidya”s saree……..speaking about the saree, Vidya opted for another handloom silk saree with she paired with ‘Amrapali’ necklace. She looked nice as ever and is responsible for making us fall in love with our heirloom textile sarees.

Karisma Kapoor in a ‘Shivan-Narresh’ top that she paired it with blue denims. For a minute there I wish Karisma would have paired this top with sheer black leggings instead of denims & skipped the oversized bag. But on the second look I do like this look of hers……..just the fact that she could experiment so much more, makes me not a big fan of this look.
Alia Bhatt in a print sheath dress looking pretty at the Bombay Times Anniversary Bash. This outfit is young, colourful & suits Alia perfectly. Thankfully this young lady took some risk in terms of style.
Bipasha Basu looked every bit like a ‘Diva’ in this beautiful off shoulder ‘Rocky S’ gown in off white. Love the hair, the understated look. It is a delight to see Bipasha in a gown.
Katrina Kaif opted for ‘Herve Leger’ for the BT Anniversary Bash and sported the outfit with structured hair & glittery shoes. Not a fan of this look at all since the hair part reminds me of a rockstar but with this baby doll dress, it is an absolute mismatch. Wish she would have let her hair down in soft waves instead.
Sonam Kapoor in ‘Elie Saab’ rocked this look in red at the BT Anniversary party. The hair, the unusual choice of outfit and the Lulu Guinness’s famous lip clutch all fall in place in this look. Only Sonam could have carried off jacket with wide leg pants with such elegance. Like it.
Shilpa Shetty in a burgundy grecian inspired silk dress[Dior?] accessoried with a Bvlgari serpentine watch, a snake leather clutch and golden shimmer pumps at the HT Awards event. IFP does like Shilpa in this look but feel her shoes were a mismatch with this outfit. Shoes with delicate straps would have looked much better than pumps.
Aditi Rao Hydari attended the Hindustan Times ‘Most Stylish’ Awards evening in a lime green ‘Gaurav Gupta’ outfit. The outfit lacked the element of a good fit & cut, so half the battle was lost right there. The other half went bad due to the red pumps which did not compliment this outfit in any way. I was just getting to like Aditi’s fashion choice off late but this one makes me sigh.
Chitrangada Singh attended the HT Most Stylish Award in Rohit Gandhi+Rahul Khanna gown………..I do like the gown but this look could have been styled way better. Accessories that too chunky one was needed here………an eye catching, bold neck piece would have made a world of difference along with hair pulled back. The look is too plain for this event and lacks glamour.
How does Dia Mirza always manage to get her look in place?? That is what I wonder every time she walks on the red carpet. Seen at the HT event in a blue ‘Catherine Maladrino’ gown, she looked absolutely heavenly. The low bun with loose waves are the winner in this look and the beautiful sapphire earrings complete her look. Totally Glam!!
Sonam Kapoor in a black Elie Saab dress at the HT award events. From the looks of it the word ‘Gothic’ creeps up into my mind……not a fan of the outfit in the first place. But Sonam’s styling with a clutch, earrings and smokey eyes do get IFP’s thumbs up.
Jacqueline Fernandez wore a bubblegum pink ‘Pernia Qureshi’ gown……..the colour is not an easy one to carry off but Jacqueline managed to pull this look off to some extent. Wish her shoes were more dramatic like lace up stilettos in black rather than the pointed heel pumps. Otherwise IFP likes this look on her.
Kareena Kapoor launched ’The Style Diary of a Bollywood Diva’ written by Rochelle Pinto. The book is based on Kareena’s fashion choices and red carpet style. Kareena wore a ‘Tom Ford’ outfit which she paired with black pumps & coral lips. The metal detail belt was definitely not an easy one to start with but Kareena managed to carry this outfit off with sheer ease. The exaggerated shoulders spelt ‘Fierce’ on Kareena………..different & original. IFP likes this look.
Kajol means serious business when it comes to looking good on the red carpet………she will be on IFP’s watchlist for the ‘Best Dressed’ next, as for looking good………..spotted Kajol in a ‘Sabyasachi’ saree. Clean, understated look with the only bling catching my eye was the golden clutch. Really, really like her look and wish she continues surprising us.
Sonam Kapoor emerged on the red carpet & how…………looking amazing in a ‘Kallol Dutta’ outfit & silver neck piece to complete the look. The hair, make-up, jewels and of course the saree………all of it was simply flawless. Though not a fan of Kallol’s work but Sonam does make this saree work with a modern twist added.
Anupam & Kirron Kher attended the Screen Actors Guild Awards in LA held over the past weekend. It was no surprise that Kirron would opt for a beautiful silk saree from her own collection. The pastel saree golden highlight was complimented with a matching potli, a shawl and traditional jewellery from Amrapali. She looked elegant as ever………I do admire the fact that she keeps it ‘desi’ to the hilt while making us proud for her fashion choices. Mr. Kher himself looked dapper in a tuxedo……..wish he would teach the younger generation of actors to dress up well apart from refining their acting skills.
Sophie Choudry was dressed in a beautiful ‘Manav Gangwani’ gown at the Stardust Awards and looked amazing for sure. The classy hair, the diamond stud earrings & a shimmer clutch sure make this look fabulous.
Anushka Sharma in a ruffled ’Armani’ gown but the fit of the gown and the hair somehow did not make it a red carpet favorite for me. Seen her give much better looks in the past, this one is absolutely forgettable.
Parineeti Chopra in a black & white Manish Malhotra outfit looked cute but it is the styling of her look that fell short of me saying ‘WOW’ to this look. The drape of the dupatta tied to her wrists lacked neatness and seemed to have done up in a hurry. Not a fan of this look which also begged for some color.
Priyanka Chopra who combined a keyhol halter top with flared pants scored much better style wise at the Stardust Awards. Love her hairstyle and Priyanka made the pants work so well on the red carpet.
Sonakshi Sinha in a blue ‘Marchesa’ that made me think ‘Gothic’. The voluminous hair, the dark eyes and no jewelry look for Sonakshi. Not a fan of this look.
Vidya Balan continues her post marriage looks in ‘Sabyasachi’ saree, I sure do like her styling this time around. Dangling earrings, pulled back hair and the beautiful color of the saree look fabulous on her.
Bipasha Basu sporting a new hairstyle in a yellow ‘Gucci’ floored me with this gown though the purple clutch looked out of place. I loved the fact that she combined a kundan necklace with this outfit. LOVE.
Alia Bhatt wore a ‘Shehlaa Khan’ outfit for the Stardust Awards that had detail work on the bodice part. The look was too plain for the red carpet and I missed accessories on her. Wish Alia would have worn a gem necklace with this gown. So many wonderful styles could have been done to this look.
Priyanka Chopra, Amitabh Bachchan and Anushka Sharma at the Prime Icon of the Year where Mr. Bachchan was honoured. Priyanka Chopra wore a beautiful lace saree by Shehlaa Khan while Anushka Choose Abu Jani- Sandeep Khosla anarkali. Of the two, IFP definitely likes Anushka’s outfit wee bit more. Anushka’s hair, make-up complete with red lips and the earrings score browny points.
Tabu was all fiery red in this Abu Jani- Sandeep Khosla outfit at the Golden Globes. On someone else this outfit would have looked thrashy, but on Tabu it looks fabulous. She has kept this look understated with minimum accessories & just added a clutch to complete this look. LOVE her style………she did make us proud not just by her acting skills but by her dress sense.
Kajol in all black attire with a hot pink scarf to add a ‘pop of colour’ to her outfit…………….I kinda like it even though the outfit has it’s misfits too. But given the hair, the styling and the super slim Kajol, I think all works out well here……Kajol was at the Dabboo Ratnani 2013 calender launch.
Chitrangada Singh sizzles in a ‘Amit Aggarwal’ outfit and boy she does make this entire look works. The metal tones are prominent as detailing and in her metallic open toe pumps. ‘WOW’ is how I can define this look which she donned for the Calendar launch & promotion of her upcoming flick ‘Inkaar’.
Yummy Mummy Lara Dutta was also spotted at the ‘Talaash’ premiere along with hubby Mahesh Bhupati. Lara was dressed in a Micheal Kors outfit that she accessorized with golden clutch & pumps. Seeing her on red carpet all glamed up was a nice sight….hope she keeps making these appearances more often.
Rani Mukherjee opted for a whote anarkali with a colourful dupatta in sky blue & green. This outfit did no justice to this beautiful lady who just looked a wee bit bulky……Wish Rani would choose fitted silhouettes to flatter her figure.
Tabu was spotted wearing Abu Jani- Sandeep Khosla anarkali at the premiere of ‘Life of Pi’. Not a fan of this voluminous outfit, wish she would have worn something more fitted. Plus hair could have been styled better.
Kajol made her presence felt at Roger Dubuis’ Boutique opening event in Dubai. Kajol spotted with Gerard Butler at this opening event……Kajol looks amazing in this white & pink ‘Manish Malhotra’ saree. IFP LOOOVVVEESSS to see this beautiful lady back in action especially on the fashion scene. Eagerly waiting to see her back on silver screen too.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wore a pink anarkali for receiveing her French Honour in Mumbai did look every bit heavenly in this Abu Jani – Sandeep Khosla creation………..IFP hearts this look of hers. Aishwarya shares the stage with French Ambassador to India Mr. Francois Richier.
Actress Esha Gupta wore a ‘Surendri’ by Yogesh Chaudhary for the launch event of Iphone 5 in India. It was not the outfit but the metallic accesories which caught the eye. Kudos to Esha for making this style work and being different. IFP likes…….
The team of ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ promoting their movie in Mumbai where actors Anushka Sharma, Katrina Kaif & Shahrukh Khan we spotted. Katrina Kaif opted for a ‘Jay Ahr’ dress in b/w while Anushka was seen in a gold silk top combined with black denims which my guess would be by designer ‘Bibhu Mohapatra’. As for Shahrukh who added a scarf to his look did look dapper in this neat look. Plus with two hotties by your side you nailed the look. Personally I am leaning more towards Anushka’s look for the way it has been styled.
Shilpa Shetty has to a yummy mummy for IFP…………seen in a Masaba Gupta for ‘Mata ki Chowki’ at the Dutt residence. For people asking about baby weight…………where is it….I just cannot see it?? She looks amazing in this look especially love her potli bag & bangles.
The usually well-dressed Kangna Ranaut seems to have had a bad style day…..the Sabyasachi outfit was not an easy one to carry off in the first place…… with two prints & a floral detailed dupatta in one outfit needed the accessories to be muted. The ankle strap shoes killed this look further more for us………a churidhar calls for flat joothi or stilettoes………….Unfortunately this is a ‘Not’ for IFP. Though I do adore the mini ‘Dior’
Shilpa Shetty looked glorious in a ‘Tarun Tahiliani’ outfit at the premiere of English Vinglish. This yummy mummy makes post pregnancy look so hot. As for Raj Kundra………He can use a lesson or two from Shilpa when it comes to dressing well and the stubble needs to go.
Madhuri Dixit Nene also attended the premiere with her husband Dr. Shriram Nene. Although I adore Madhuri and was enjoying seeing her in designer outfits by Anju Modi, Anamika Khanna and JJ Valaya………this look was just too filmy for me. Having said that she did look pretty but waiting to see her in new avatars on the red carpet in future.
Sonakshi Sinha who was dressed in a blue shirt dress did not impress me one bit with her style. This outfit screamed for accessories loud & clear. Plus the shoes did not do any good to this look of hers. Seen here Sonakshi was posing with mther Poonam Sinha who did look graceful in a silk saree.
Zarine Khan opted for a bandage dress and did look pretty in this outfit. The look was complimented with a black clutch & strappy heels. Of course Zarine gave jewellery a miss but a cocktail ring or a cuff would have looked good.
Bipasha Basu wore a ‘Masaba Gupta’ saree to the premiere of ‘English Vinglish’ but the blouse was the spoiler here. I do understand the concept of mix-n-match but ‘out-of-place’ is what this looks like. Wish this look was styled differently and the necklace would have been skipped altogether.
Tabu looked fabulous in a ‘Nachiket Barve’ saree which was combined with a cutout detail blouse. She wears outfits which are very simple, but I assume it is her personality that makes heads turn. IFP likes this look.
Vidya Balan wore a yellow ‘Sabyasachi’ to the premiere…………..no complains on the outfit. Viduyya did try to do something different this time around by opting for this bright colour but styling of the hair and the wedge heels marred the entire look. But will still look forward to Vidya in a complete new ‘Sabyasachi’ creation in future.
Sridevi posing in ‘Sabyasachi’ attire plus a clutch from the designer to match this outfit. After seeing her appearances in recent times, one would have thought that Sridevi would have picked up something in bright colour. Thankfully even in pastels she did not disappoint a bit……………..a true ‘Diva’ in this look. IFP simply adores her.
Sridevi was dressed in an Anamika Khanna saree at the screening of ‘English Vinglish’ in New Delhi. IFP is just in awe of Sridevi’s looks these days……what caught my eye in this look was the floral detail work on the blouse. Like it for sure.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was the ‘Lady in red’ at the United Nationa’s Charity Dinner held in New York. She wore a ‘Sabyasachi’ anarkali which she absolutely rocked. IFP is loving this look of hers.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan poses at the UN Goodwill conference in a black knee length dress. Like the dress but am just a wee bit disappointed that Aishwarya wore skin colour stockings which reflected too much shine……….wished she ditched the stocking. Plus just not digging the hair either………..she would have rocked this look with stud earrings and different hairdo. Sigh!!
Kajol did surprise us in a hot pink Ramona Garware gown at the Vogue India’s Anniversary bash. To sum it up in one word………she looked ‘HOT’. The structured hair, the beautiful gown, the glitter clutch and of course the trademark smile of hers…….all made this mother of two amazing. LOVE!!!
Kalki Koechlin also attended the Vogue Anniversary Bash in a Nimish Shah outfit. The colour is rarely seen on red carpet but that’s what is so wonderful about this entire look. Kalki’s personality and this pleated dress plus the clutch & the pumps are in basic black blend well…….IFP likes her look, what about you???
It was shimmer all the way for Alia Bhatt but IFP felt she played rather very safe with this look. The outfit combined with black pumps & clutch. She is young and can have loads of fun dressing up for the red carpet……wish to see Alia in demure colours and more accessories.
Dia Mirza came in looking fabulous in this black lace dress. The loosely braided hair works well along with her outfit which on anyone else would have looked shabby. Kuddos to Dia for carrying this look effortlessly.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who is an ambassador for UN was spotted at the UN headquarters in New York to celebrate International Day of Peace. Aishwarya wore a Sabyasachi outfit in black & pastel but honestly would have preferred her in some more colour. Since off late IFP has been spotting her in dull shades only……….it’s time to surprise us.
Deepika Padukone was honoured with Smita Patil Memorial Award instituted by Priyadarshni Academy for her contribution in film industry. Deepika wore an off-white asymmetrical Anarkali which beautiful chikankari & mirror work by designers Abu Jani – Sandeep Khosla. IFP is finding Ms. Padukone pretty fabulous these days…….this dress just reconfirmed our thoughts about her style. The outfit, the hair and the accessories all put together looked ‘oh-so-elegant’.
Sridevi walks the red carpet at TIFF in a ‘Sabysachi’ saree and I must say she couldn’t have looked any better. The hair, the make-up and of course the outfit were in one word – ‘Perfect’. The dual tone saree worked on Sridevi’s tall frame giving her a graceful look without overdoing. Sridevi accessorized her look with a Jadau jewellery and a clutch. IFP is all smiles at seeing her debut on the international red carpet looking so beautiful.
Sridevi makes her first appearance for a photocall at TIFF where she is busy promoting her upcoming movie ‘English Vinglish’. Sridevi posed for the shutterbugs along with director Gauri Shinde in a blue – golden anarkali by designer Manish Malhotra. I was expecting Sridevi to surprise me by opting for a style which has not been worn by other leading ladies. A brightly colored saree or a churidhar in muted color but with detailing. This look simply did not excite me……………..especially on a lady so elegant as Sridevi.
Shahana Goswami made her red carpet appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival [TIFF] in a red ‘Sabyasachi’ outfit. Unfortunately the makeup, hair and the jewellery marred this look which would have been ‘oh-so-awesome’. Shahana looks tired and the messy hairdo enhances the negatives. Plus the draping of this outfit could have used some help.
On the other hand actor Ronit Roy did fare well in his Jodhpuri jacket and looked every bit dapper. IFP likes this neat look on the international red carpet.
Sridevi seems to be getting younger with each passing day. The lady looked ravishing in this blue ‘Zara’ knee length dress which she wore to launch the latest Society Interior’s cover look. At 49 if she manages to look so fabulous, then do I really need to be a critic here…….:-)
Sonakshi Sinha is this face of Amby Valley City’s ‘India Bridal Fashion Week’ this year. She wore ‘JONA’ creation by designer Jyotsna Tiwari to the announcement. From the looks of it IFP thinks Sonakshi looked red hot. Like the way the lace dupatta was draped to give a tapered look to the voluminous Lehenga.
